Newly elected NAS-IT President Deepen Chapagain joins the Industry-Integrated Degree (IID) initiative to bridge Nepal's IT education and industry gap.
Deepen Chapagain has joined the Industry-Integrated Degree (IID) initiative following his election as President of the Nepal Association for Software and IT Services Companies (NAS-IT).
Mr. Chapagain joins the IID initiative as it moves toward implementation of an industry-integrated model that connects academic education with practical workplace experience.
The IID programme is designed to bridge the gap between university education and the evolving requirements of Nepal’s IT industry. Under the model, students will pursue their bachelor’s degree through Nepal Open University (NOU) while gaining practical experience through apprenticeships at participating IT companies.
As NAS-IT President, Chapagain will work with industry representatives, Nepal Open University, and development partners involved in IID to support its implementation and strengthen industry participation in the programme.
IID Working Committee
The IID initiative is supported by a working committee comprising representatives from academia, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The committee includes Deepen Chapagain, President of NAS-IT; Gaurav Pandey, Immediate Past President of NAS-IT; Abhaya Poudel, former Treasurer of NAS-IT; Dr. Bhoj Raj Ghimire, Acting Dean of Nepal Open University; Punit Jajodia, Founder of Programiz; and Anup Ghimire, Founder of Viewfinders.
The committee is coordinated by Srijan Shrestha, Communications & Marketing Officer at NAS-IT, and Soniya Shrestha, Engagement and Operations Lead at NAS-IT.
Working alongside them to document the committee's progress and handling media relations is Kamal KC, Editor & Media Coordinator.
The committee brings together perspectives from the IT industry, academia, and entrepreneurship to support the development and implementation of IID.
The Industry-Integrated Degree (IID) is an initiative of NAS-IT in collaboration with Nepal Open University (NOU), supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) through the technical assistance of Swisscontact.
